Legacy Transition FAQ’s

Why is Westside Internal Medicine making this change?

Westside Internal Medicine has always been an independent practice located on the Providence St. Vincent Medical Campus. We are unable to continue operating our private business due to the ever changing and demanding healthcare system requirements. These requirements have required us to join a larger group to be able to continue practicing medicine, take Medicare and offer more resources for our patients.

 

Will we be staying at our current location?

Our care team, location, phone and fax numbers will remain the same through Spring of 2018, but our clinic will have a new name effective July 31, 2017.

Our new office location will remain on the west side, located at Cedar Hills Crossing (Cedar Hills Blvd. and Jenkins Road). We do not have a physical address to share at this time as the space is currently under construction. Due to construction delays, our tentative move date has been pushed back to May of 2018. We will continue to provide updates as more information and details are available.

 

What insurance plans will we be accepting once we join Legacy Medical Group?

  • We recommend you contact the customer service number located on the back of your insurance card to see if they cover Legacy Medical Group providers. Our providers are currently in the credentialing process and may not be listed at this time if you provide their name. If your health insurance is contracted with Legacy Medical Group, you will be in-network for services provided by our office. We will be contracted as Legacy Medical Group providers effective July 31, 2017.
  • We are now able to accept Medicare patients. If you have Medicare as your primary insurance with a supplemental plan, we recommend you contact the customer service number located on the back of your supplemental insurance card to see if they cover Legacy Medical Group providers. They will be able to inform you if Legacy Medical Group providers are contracted and in-network. We will be contracted as Legacy Medical Group providers effective July 31, 2017.
  • Providence Health Plan:
    • Commercial patients – we may continue to see you through the end of 2017.
    • MedAdvantage patients – we received new information that Providence Medicare Advantage insurance members may continue receiving care at our clinic.
  • For our United Healthcare patients – we understand you may have received a separate letter from your insurance carrier indicating your provider will be out of network effective July 31, 2017. This information may be misleading. We recommend you contact the customer service number located on the back of your insurance card to see if they cover Legacy Medical Group providers. Our providers are currently in the credentialing process and may not be listed at this time. If your health insurance is contracted with Legacy Medical Group, you will be in-network for services provided by our office. We will be contracted as Legacy Medical Group providers effective July 31, 2017.
    • For our Nike patients – please check internally with your HR/Benefits department regarding your network status. Our providers are currenty in-network as Westside Internal Medicine until July 30, 2017. During our transition to Legacy Medical Group, we are currently in the credentialing process and expected to be in-network as Legacy Medical Group providers effective July 31, 2017.

We will have informational sessions coming this summer to help guide patients through this transition. This will take place before open enrollment so patients have time to look at options that best suit their needs. Further information regarding the dates of these sessions will be posted online. Who will be taking over Dr. Brenda Murphy and Dr. Steven Hohf’s practice?

Dr. Brenda Murphy relocated to Iowa in mid-July. After Dr. Murphy leaves, any of our providers would be happy to see you for any urgent medical needs until replacement providers join our clinic. As we enter into our partnership with Legacy Medical Group, we are currently recruiting new physicians to join our practice to accommodate you.

 

Dr. Steven Hohf retired at the end of July. We are excited to announce that Dr. Viktoriya Monroe joined Legacy Medical Group-Westside Internal Medicine on August 1, 2017. She will be serving Dr. Hohf’s panel of patients along with Michelle Svelund, Certified Medical Assistant. To learn more about Dr. Monroe, please click here.

 

What will happen with patients medical records?

As we approach our transition date of July 31st more information will be provided related to Release of Information (ROI). We will provide updates soon.

 

Do I have to change my specialists?

If the specialists you see are currently contracted and in-network with your insurance plan, then you do not need to change specialists.

If you are currently enrolled in a Providence MedAdvantage plan, we will continue to provide referrals to your specialists through the end of 2018.

Will our existing patient portal remain in effect?

As we transitioned to Legacy Medical Group providers and changed our medical record system, our patient portal has closed. Patients can gain access to the new portal system once we become Legacy Medical Group providers. To be directed to our new website, please click here.
